Unicorn Themed Dog Birthday Party

Unicorn themed dog birthday party

It’s time to get magical with a unicorn dog birthday party! Think pastels, sprinkles, rainbows and a whole lot of love. Our furry friends deserve a birthday party, and what better excuse to round up your friends and family! In events, unicorns are one of the most popular themes at the moment, so we thought we’d put our own spin on things by showing you how to host a themed unicorn dog birthday party!

Planning the party

Planning a puppy party is a whole lot of fun! Remember you’re throwing a party for your dog and their doggie friends so it’s nothing to get stressed over. However there are some logistics you should get out of the way, they are:

  1. Who are you inviting? If your dog is friendly invite some of your dog-owning friends and doggies along! Try to get a good idea of how many people and dogs you need to cater for.
  2.  Where is it being held? This one probably depends on how big your garden is and how many you’re planning on hosting at your party. The local dog park could always be a good alternative if you’re short on space.
  3. Once you’ve sorted these things out you can move onto the more fun side of party planning. We’ve compiled a comprehensive list of doggie birthday party ideas that you should give a go to make your party really special!

Decorations and Style

Step one is decorating your party venue to get the birthday party vibe going straightaway! Since we decided to go with a unicorn theme, bright colours, unicorns and of course pastels were a necessity.

We used a unicorn piñata simply because you can’t have your Dog’s Birthday without a Piñata full of naughty dog treats that your little one can’t have every day!

But do be careful about party decorations that may be dangerous for dogs. Paper tissue confetti and streamers, balloons and party banners and/or garlands would be suitable.

The Party’s Here in Sydney have all sorts of boutique balloons that would suit your event! Whether you’re looking to personalise the event with a unicorn balloon, or the age of your dog! You can also find our balloon suppliers Australia wide here.

Where can you find the items that we used?

Unicorn Piñata: Kmart Australia

‘1’ Balloon: Kmart Australia

Cake: Homemade (see recipe below)

Cake Decor: DIY horn and ear (gold foil), Eyes (black paper), Fake flowers positioned to be a mane on the cake between the ears.

Unicorn Cake

There are special treats that you can make up for dogs that are good for their health and are taste delicious (in their opinion of course). The following recipe (and adorable piccy) come from Twigg Studios. We liked this recipe because it’s healthy and tasty for dogs, and it’s a very simple recipe that isn’t too difficult to whip up.
Peanut Butter and Apple Dog Cake

1 1/2 cups of wholemeal flour
7 tbs butter

1/2 cup peanut butter

3 eggs

1 apple chopped into small bits

1 cup of chopped ham

1 tsp baking powder

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius
2. Mix together butter, peanut butter, eggs, flour and chopped apple.

3. Spoon mixture into a baking tin lined with baking paper.

4. Bake for 35 minutes.

For the icing whip together 2 tbs yogurt, 4 tbsp double cream and a teaspoon of sugar, whipped to perfection. For a cake like the one pictured in the photograph.

Props

One of the many great things about dogs is that they’re pretty ease to please! Chances are the dogs will be able to keep themselves entertained without you having to plan anything. However you could provide fetch balls, chew toys and other dog toys!
