Spring Cleanse Party Style

If you’re hosting your Spring Cleanse slumber party style, invite your guests to come in their PJS! It’s way comfier and gets the relaxing vibe going! After consuming lots of carbs such as pizza and pasta over winter (we are all guilty!) it’s time to cleanse your digestive system. Instead of heavy carb loaded foods, it’s time for light refreshing salads, colourful fresh fruit and delicious freshly squeezed juices! Inner beauty is just as important as outer beauty and we all know nutrition plays a huge role in health and in getting that glow we all long for! What you put inside shows on the outside so it’s time to get your glow on with these nutritious healthy foods we are sure you and your guests will love!

Some great combos include kale, spinach, green apple, celery and lemon, perfect for getting those greens in! Smoothies are also a delicious spring cleanse drink! Create a mixture of different combos from mixed berry, to banana, mango or a green smoothie! These healthy mixes will fill you up and give you a boost of energy and nourishment! Add some superfood powders or chia seeds to your smoothies for that extra health kick!

Herbal tea is also a great way to clean and detox the body. Boil a teapot and have cute teacups nearby for your guests to fill their cups. We recommend green tea, dandelion tea, lemongrass and ginger tea and chamomile tea for their amazing cleansing properties.

Make water more exciting by adding lemon, lime and cucumber to your water jug! Not only will it taste good, the lemon will help to flush toxins from your body and give your immune system a boost! As you can see, healthy eating doesn’t have to be boring with all these delicious healthy options. Not to mention you will be feeling refreshed and healthy afterwards, your body will thank you for it so go crazy and create lots of delicious healthy food and drinks for you and your guests to enjoy!

Pampering Time

The easiest way to rejuvenate the skin on your body is to exfoliate. Making your own DIY body scrubs and face masks with your friends is a fun activity to simultaneously refresh your skin and bond with your girls. Just don’t forget the slices of cucumber to de-puff your eyes, or an Annabel Trend’s gel eye mask if you’ve got some serious dark circles. And to top it off, some fun tunes to singalong to while your mask dries.

Face masks

There’s nothing worse than your hair getting in the way when you’re trying to pamper your face, Annabel Trends have a “Microfibre Gift Pack range” which includes a hairband to keep your hair off your face. We love the pink one!

An organic banana mask is perfect for all skin types. Here’s how you can do it yourself:

1. Mash one half of a banana

2. Mix in a tablespoon of orange juice and a tablespoon of honey

3. Apply to the face and keep the mixture on for 15 minutes

4. Rinse with lukewarm water and then moisturise

If your skin is a little congested, try mixing 1 egg white and 1tsp of lemon juice.

 

Martha Stewart has a great range of DIY recipes, we especially love the sound of her Lavender Body Scrub. Here’s how you can do it yourself:

MATERIALS

1 cup dark-brown sugar

1 cup turbinado cane sugar (such as Sugar in the Raw)

1 teaspoon activated charcoal (optional)

10 drops lavender essential oil

3/4 cup safflower oil

8-ounce jar

STEPS

  1. Mix sugars and charcoal.
  2. Stir essential oil into safflower oil. Pour oil mixture into sugar mixture. Scoop into jar; it will pool a bit at bottom. Seal jar with clip-art label.

Hair mask

To give your hair an extra boost of hydration from the drying effects of the sun, try making this mask.

MATERIALS

1 Egg Yolk

2 Tbsp. Coconut Oil

1 Tbsp. Honey

STEPS

Double recipe for long hair.

  1. Combine ingredients in a blender or whisk ingredients together until well-blended.
  2. Apply the mask evenly throughout damp hair, making sure to cover damaged ends.
  3. Wash out the mask with shampoo and conditioner. Or better yet, ask a friend to do it and give each other a bonus head massage to relax.

Manicures & Pedicures 

So you don’t ruin all your nail labour by starting off with the manicures, we recommend taking turns giving each other pedicures first – that way your nails can dry without a hitch. Or you can do both at the same time like Rachel and Monica!

Before you bathe, try dry body brushing, it’s a great way to reduce the appearance of cellulite, exfoliate, improve vascular blood circulation and lymphatic drainage..the list is endless.
