With all of the trending party ideas, we can assure you that your guests will be impressed, your pictures will look amazing and the guest of honour will have an amazing day celebrating!
Here is the up and coming party trends of 2017!
Colour of the Year
The Pantone Color Institute just unveiled the 2017 Color of the Year: Greenery. We are loving this bright and powerful colour and are pretty confident that this is going to set the tone for many elements of planning this year.
Pantone describes the colour as, “A fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Greenery symbolizes the re-connection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose amid a complex social and political landscape.” Following this, wellness, relaxation and outdoors should all be making an impact on events this year and all these elements relate perfectly to greenery.
Natured-inspired themes are now becoming a popular theme for parties and there are plenty of ways to explore this theme. Why not use tree trunk slices to make beautiful serving platters? Or use it to vary the heights of those serving platters to create interest on your dessert table? We are also seeing a lot of ivy garlands; these are as stunning as they are versatile and an easy way to style your party.
If you are a parent, you want your kid’s childhood to be filled up with happy memories. A child’s birthday party is an opportunity to give children and guests an event to remember. This year, activities that engage kids are trending. There are plenty of different activities such as science parties, art parties, sports parties and dance parties which would be perfect for energetic little ones!
This year, parents will reprovingly be moving away from classic, character driven parties and instead will choose unique themes that give opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind birthday celebration. There are hundreds of possibilities for themes, but very popular ones currently include bohemian, tribal, outdoors, unicorns, flamingo, tropical and geometric inspired birthday bashes. We recommend incorporating your child’s insights when choosing the birthday’s theme, including them in the party planning makes it that little bit more special for when they get to celebrate their big day!
A great way to great creative and to ensure the guests will have a good time is by having a interactive food station. You will definitely be able to find plenty of inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram but here is a few of our favourites ideas; a cupcake table, a taco station, a self-serve ice cream sundae bar and a donut wall. You can check out our DIY popcorn bar here and our ice-cream sundae party guide here! If you want to keep things simple and don’t have much time on your hand, a dessert table or candy buffet will always be appreciated and devoured by guests!
This year, the statement balloons are definitely growing in popularity. It’s a nice alternative instead of ordering a balloon bouquet, or filling a room with tons of balloons. We are seeing a lot of metallic number / word balloons to celebrate big milestone events. Find our balloon suppliers Australia wide here.
Last year, the focus was on naked cakes or semi-naked cakes. Now, the drip cake is shining. It’s not an easy look to reproduce so it might be wise to outsource this to a professional cake maker. But, if you are clever in the kitchen, why not have a try at this style of cake? The results are just stunning, especially topped with fresh flowers or a calligraphy cake topper. You can source our fabulous cake makers Australia wide here.
Technology is becoming more and more present in our everyday lives. We are seeing people creating customised video content to show at the events, and people taking video footage during events to use for a little souvenir. This trend is mainly for large scale events.
We are also slowly losing of the paper handouts over to the electronic ones. There is softwares designed to help you do pretty much every element of your event planning – no more checking off a paper guest list, no more printing out schedules, no more paper handouts at events – everything should be online and in the palm of your (and your guests) hands (via a smartphone or iPad). However, when it comes to a child’s birthday, young guests usually love receiving a paper invitation so it’s not fully gone, yet!
