DIY Photo Booth Backdrops - Floral

We've found a few different ways to display florals in a backdrop, but we are loving these simple hanging flowers. Simply use fishing line to tie your favourite flowers and pin to the wall. If you need some help with what flowers would be best for your party, contact Florabomb. They are a Sydney based floral boutique inspired by European simplicity and classic style.

Or check out Weekly Blooms’ range, you may even be tempted to subscribe to their weekly flower delivery services.

Perfect for a New Years Eve party or even just a fabulous birthday party, gold has never looked better. This tutorial suggests hanging gold foil curtains but you could also find some fringing.

We found a Complete Fancy Black and White Decorator Kit for $60 from The Kit Source which includes some metallic fringing which would work just as well as a backdrop.

Ruby Rabbit also stocks this Gold Curtain for $16.95 and you could add this Gold and Silver Reversible Star Garland from Hip and Hooray for $6.95 to add an extra layer over your curtain.

Everybody loves balloons, so filling your whole backdrop with balloons is sure to leave a lasting memory. To set up your balloon backdrop, simply blow your balloons up with helium and tie them to fishing line. Then stick them to the floor using tape. If you want to mimic this heart shape, follow this tutorial.

The Party’s Here is your one stop for all of your balloon needs and they also provide custom made balloon arrangements - perfect for a backdrop.

If you want some statement balloons like these DIY Confetti Balloons you can purchase them from Whimsy Chuffed for $14.95.

A simple combo that looks perfect in the outdoors are ribbons and flowers. If you have access to a tree outside, try hanging your ribbons from the tree and pin your flowers as desired. You can pick up thick coloured ribbon from most budget or craft stores. Or try using some lace for an elegant look.

Olive Green Plant & Prop are perfect for outdoor flowers as most of their products are UV protected and water resistant, meaning they will stay looking fresh and wont get damaged throughout your event.

Setting Up Your Camera

What’s the point of a beautiful backdrop if you don’t have the camera to capture the moment?! To set up your camera, make sure you have positioned it with a tripod in the perfect distance from your backdrop. If you have a camera remote, that’s great! But if not, then just use your self timer mode on the camera. It’s also important to consider the lighting for your photos. If you are indoors, especially at night, it is safer to keep the flash on. If you are outside with plenty of natural light, try to avoid the flash.

If all this tech-language is confusing you and you would rather hand the camera to a professional, consider hiring a photographer for the event. They will know all the right angles and camera settings to make you and your guests look fab! Luckily Loco Photography, located in North Fitzroy, have the right experience and skills in helping you with this. Contact them to arrange a quote.

Now your thoughts should be running around like mad coming up with so many of your own personal ideas for your very own DIY backdrop! Once you have all your supplies ready, it’s as simple as asking someone for a lending hand and assembling your awesome creation which will soon be featuring in all of your happy snaps!
